Fine dining meets fascinating exhibitions in one of the world’s most important museums!

In the historic setting of the Dome Hall, the NHM Vienna serves up a culinary treat every Wednesday from 7.00 p.m. The cultural highlight of the evening is a guided tour “Above the rooftops of Vienna”, which takes diners through the museum and up onto the roof of the museum offering fantastic views of Vienna’s beautiful city center.

In the Mezzanine of the Natural History Museum Vienna there is a series of 15 free-standing exhibits from the fields of mineralogy, geology, and anthropology designed especially with blind visitors to the museum in mind. This hands-on trail providing information about the objects and their history was created and tested in cooperation with a class from the Austrian Federal Institute for the Blind, a school for blind and visually impaired pupils.

 

Descriptions of the individual exhibits and a map of the trail are available in braille from the information desk. These texts can also be listened to using an audioguide.

The braille brochure and audioguide are available only in German.

Join us on an exclusive guided tour at the NHM Vienna to discover the 29,500-year-old Venus of Willendorf in the Venus Cabinet, admire the spectacular Arikogel Hoard in the Gold Cabinet, and travel back in time in the fulldome planetarium to see what the night sky would have looked like when the Venus of Willendorf figurine was made.
This new special guided tour “Venus, Gold and the Night Sky” combines three outstanding highlights in the NHM Vienna and concludes with a glass of sparkling wine containing tiny fragments of glittering gold leaf.
