He has supported art’s claim of validity in a position that was previously only granted to mathematicians and philosophers.”

“Hofstetter Kurt’s notation comes from his emotion. He positions notes like light spots, standing like shining stars in the dark cosmos. The visual aspect of his notation refers to the importance of visual thinking for his activity as a concept and media artist. His light spots come together to form hyper-symmetrical constellations and reveal themselves as aesthetic and sensual reflexes of hyper-symmetrical music composition. His star scores are however not comparable to graphic scores, as for example those of the composer Anestis Logothetis. These light spots are precisely transferable into common score notation and thus the sound can be precisely reproduced. Hofstetter Kurt’s visual design of musical notation is viewable, readable and audible at the same time.”
